Hello,
Let me start of with apologising for sending out this newsletter 2 days later than planned. My last week has been an absolute joy and I’ve been trying to capture every moment so that I can relieve and cherish those memories.
Living in the moment
I had 6 days to spend in a city I call my other home, with people that I love with all my heart, and like anybody else, for me time felt like it was flashing by too quick, time did not feel sufficient, time felt like it was on fast forward, moving in 10X speed.
I spent so much time worrying about how quickly I would reach the end of the six days, that at moments I forgot to live in the moment and enjoy it throughly. I wouldn’t claim that I completely stopped thinking about how quickly time was going by, but I will say that I tried my best to physically and mentally pause every now and then to take a mental photograph of the moment, to cherish the littlest of things in that specific moment to the fullest.
I held eye contact for a moment longer, kept the silence between a sentence spoken and a response made a moment longer, I smiled back a moment longer, I stayed within the hug a moment longer… in attempt to live in the moment, in attempt to have one extra moment of this racing time, in attempt to surrender myself to the moment,
Speaking about moments, I wanted to share a little something about bringing in joy to your everyday moments.
My happy socks theory
I think that a fun way to make life exciting is to create occasions to feel unreasonably joyful. I like to create little tiny moments to look forward to everyday. One way in which I do this is using my happy socks.
To give you some context, my most favourite article of clothing to shop for is socks. Yes you heard that right, it’s socks :) I don’t know why but wearing cheerful socks brings me so much joy. I have socks with neon pink hearts on them, I have stitch socks with ears on their sides, I have snowman socks – my point is I have “happy socks’’ that when I chose to wear, so effortlessly add some oomph to my day!
Finding these little things that can add energy to your day without you having to do much, is a game changer. Happy socks are just one way in which I do so. On somedays I plan my workouts to coincide with a sunset or a sunrise. On some days my purple crocs with one too many jibbitz do the job. My friend, A, recently made me try the yummiest peanut butter blueberry breakfast smoothie and I know on somedays I’m going to use making this as my ‘I am going to look forward to this moment’ thing.
Moments of Joy
I have so many moments of joy to share from this week that I am considering making the next newsletter revolve completely around sharing these moments <3
But if I were to pick just one for today then, thanks to my beautiful friends, I got to spend these 6 days in another city like I never left the city. Simple things that I would do whilst living there; like making avocado toast for breakfast, going on long walks, playing sports and being around my favourite people and nature.
Sharing is caring
This week I’m here sharing a board game :) This is one of my absolute favourites and when I used to live in London this game used to be an almost every weekend ritual. Try it out!
I’ll see you this Sunday again. If you felt something while reading this, have a moment of joy that you’d like to share, or just want to say hi, write to me, I’d love to hear from you :)
Lots of warmth and wonder,
Vaishnavi
